Central Mess – Katihar Medical College

A contemporary G+3 institutional dining building designed with a grand central atrium, modern façade, and a high-performance kitchen layout for seamless daily operations.

    Project Summary

Katihar Medical College Mess is a completed G+3 dining facility that blends modern architecture with highly functional planning. The building is defined by its clean geometric façade, expansive glazing, and a welcoming entrance canopy that elevates the overall campus experience. A signature feature of the design is the central open-to-sky atrium, which fills the interiors with natural light and enhances the sense of space within the 160-seat dining hall. The entire facility is planned for smooth operations, with clearly zoned preparation areas, cooking spaces, washing sections, storage rooms, and a dedicated service lift supporting vertical movement. One of the most notable engineering achievements in this project is the longest clear span of 42 feet, provided to create a large column-free dining hall. This structural solution not only resolved the functional requirements but also added to the building’s grandness and openness, giving the space an impressive visual scale. The completed project delivers a balance of aesthetic clarity, operational efficiency, and structural innovation, making it a strong reference for clients seeking high-quality design solutions for any scale of residential, commercial, or institutional work.
